ARE YOU BUYING A LAPTOP? CLASH!!!! :- HDD VS SSD. "Tech-updates#5"
Are you buying a laptop? Confused between HDD and SSD storage types? Here are some pros and cons you must know about the storage types before buying a laptop.
- HDD Vs SSD which is better?
- HDD Vs SSD which is faster in performance?
- Which one is cheaper?
- Approximate lifespan of SSD and HDD?
- Is an SSD or HDD better for gaming?
- When to use HDD and SDD?
- What are SSD and HDD storage types and how they work?
7) What are SSD and HDD storage types and how they work?
HDD - Hard Drive Disc where as SSD - Solid State Drive.
HDD :-
An HDD is a data storage device that lives inside the computer. It has spinning disks inside where data is stored magnetically. The HDD has an arm with several "heads" (transducers) that read and write data on the disk. It is similar to how a turntable record player works, with an LP record (hard disk) and a needle on an arm (transducers). The arm moves the heads across the surface of the disk to access different data.
SSD :-
In an SSD, all data is stored in integrated circuits. This difference from HDDs has a lot of implications, especially in size and performance. Without the need for a spinning disk, SSDs can go down to the shape and size of a stick of gum (what’s known as the M.2 form factor) or even as small as a postage stamp.
6) When to use SSD and HDD?
So if you want to store your old photos, videos..... and your are not actually into it daily. In this kind of tasks you can use HDD and it is more cheaper as well comparing to SSD. And you will also get more storage capacity in lesser price.
So if you are into daily transactions like sharing photos daily, heavy data's, video editings, for storing heavy games. In this type of cases you should use SSD for faster performance. And SSD's are costlier than HDD's.
5) Is an SSD or HDD better for Gaming?
No doubt SSD wins this comparison. Because as we know SSD performance will be faster. So the gaming experience will be faster.
4) Lifespan of SSD's and HDD's
HDD being used properly can also last for 5–6 years. Since HDD has moving parts in it i.e. read and write moving heads the lifespan is less because the accidental falling down of HDD, water damage to moving parts, grinding noise in HDD, etc can result in damage to HDD.
On the other hand in SSD there are no moving parts so fragmentation is not a problem in SSD. Also, performance of SSD is faster as compared to HDD this also makes SSD more reliable and long-lasting.
But if in case you face any such damage to your SSD or even your HDD and you want to recover your data then in that case the drives may fail to work but the data can be recovered even from the broken and damaged SSD or HDD. Look for best data recovery software and services and approach them for recovery process.
3) Which one is cheaper?
So, HDD's are more cheaper than SSD's.
So the remaining two questions are covered in the above explanation. I think you'll buy a best laptop now!
